Loot Guide
Fortnite Rare Loot Tier List
Ranked by actual drop rate from thousands of hours of documented hunting, not by in-game color rarity. Updated for Chapter 6 Season 1.
How We Rank Rarity
In-game color is one measure of rarity. Actual scarcity is another. This list uses the second measure.
A Legendary weapon from a Supply Drop sits lower on this list than a Mythic from a chest, because the Supply Drop route is more reliable. An Upgraded Legendary from an upgrade bench is technically Legendary rarity, but it is achievable on demand with enough Gold Bars, so it ranks below a naturally-spawned Legendary.

The Rarest of the Rare
Heisted Explosive Assault Rifle
Splash damage mechanic makes every find a recording-worthy event. Single rarest weapon LizardArtist has documented.
Est. rate: ~0.009%
Source: Chest or Supply Drop
Mythic Goldfish
Retired. Historical: odds were so low that documented finds accumulated over years of community play.
Est. rate: <0.001%
Source: Fishing (retired)
Exceptionally Rare
Heisted Blink Mag SMG
Near-zero reload time. Part of the Heisted set, rarer in practice than Midas' Drum Gun.
Est. rate: ~0.01%
Source: Chest or Supply Drop
Heisted Breacher Shotgun
Close-range powerhouse. Heisted set membership keeps its practical find rate low.
Est. rate: ~0.01%

Heisted Accelerant Shotgun
Best shotgun damage in Reload. Worth actively hunting Supply Drops for.

Hard to Find
Midas' Drum Gun
Most recognizable mythic in Reload. Technically higher drop rate than the Heisted set but still rare enough to warrant celebration.
Est. rate: ~0.014%
Source: Chest or Supply Drop
Skye's Assault Rifle
Best accuracy of all Reload mythics. Reliable at ranges where other ARs lose effectiveness.
Est. rate: ~0.014%

Legendary Weapon (Supply Drop)
Supply Drops heavily favor Legendary. Not mythic-rare but scarce enough to make each Supply Drop worth routing for.
Est. rate: ~15-25% per Supply Drop

Uncommon Encounters
Dev Chest Drop
Dev chests spawn at fixed map locations and consistently produce high-tier gear. Knowing where they are is the rarity barrier, not the chest itself.
Est. rate: Fixed spawn — but location knowledge required
Source: Developer chest
Legendary Floor Loot
Finding Legendary in open floor loot without a chest. Rare but happens more in Reload due to higher loot density.
Est. rate: ~1-3% of floor item spawns
Source: Floor loot
Relatively Accessible
Epic Weapon (Named POI Chest)
Purple is achievable in early game with good drop location. Named POI chests favor higher rarities.
Est. rate: ~20-30% of named POI chest drops
Source: Named POI chests
Upgraded Legendary (Upgrade Bench)
The most reliable route to Legendary. Not rare in the classic sense but requires surviving long enough to reach an upgrade bench with materials.
Est. rate: Guaranteed with Gold Bars

How to Find Rare Loot
Dev Chests
Developer chests spawn at fixed locations on the map and consistently produce high-tier gear. They are not marked on the mini-map. Map knowledge, the kind you build from watching LizardArtist's channel, is the barrier.
Supply Drops
Supply Drops have a separate loot table weighted toward Legendary and above. In Reload they spawn more frequently than in Battle Royale. Track them from the first circle and route aggressively when one drops near you.
Volume Play Strategy
Rare loot is a numbers game. The players who find the most mythics in a session are not the ones winning the most fights. They are the ones who prioritize chest cycles over eliminations and play extended sessions to accumulate pulls.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the rarest item in Fortnite Reload?
The Heisted Explosive Assault Rifle is among the rarest documented finds in Fortnite Reload, with an estimated drop rate around 0.009% from any chest or Supply Drop. The retired Mythic Goldfish from Chapter 1 Season 10 had even lower odds historically.
How are these tiers determined?
These tiers are based on actual observed drop rates from thousands of hours of documented loot hunting, not the in-game color rarity system. A Legendary weapon from a Supply Drop sits lower on this list than a Mythic from a chest, because the Supply Drop route is more reliable.
Do drop rates change between seasons?
Yes. Epic Games adjusts loot pool weights each season. An item that was S-tier rare in one season may move to A-tier if its spawn rate increases. Check back each season for updated rankings.
Where are the best spots to find rare loot?
Supply Drops are the most reliable source for Legendary and above in Reload. Dev chests at fixed map locations consistently produce high-tier gear if you know where they spawn. Volume play, where you prioritize opening chests over getting eliminations, gives the best mythic odds over time.
What makes this tier list different from others?
Most rarity guides rank weapons by their in-game color tier. This list ranks by actual scarcity, meaning how hard it is to find something in practice. An Upgraded Legendary from a bench is technically Legendary rarity but is achievable on demand, so it ranks lower than a naturally-found Legendary from floor loot.
